It’s that time of year….the holidays….tis the season of weight gains. Though we all love gains in the gym 😉 weight gain is not our primary goal. The great thing about it, is that gaining weight in the next two months doesn’t actually have to happen. YOU are in control. The holidays give a great excuse to be a little more relaxed, eat a little more…sample some (or all) of the candy etc…but again, how does it leave you feeling come Jan 1st?? I challenge you to take control this year and instead of feeling guilty/discouraged on Jan 1st to rather feel proud and accomplished. I challenge you to take control this holiday season and NOT take 2,3 or 4 steps backward but rather to keep walking forward towards your goal.
Now, this does not mean you have to deprive yourself this Thanksgiving or Christmas. It does not mean you can’t enjoy some of those goodies that for some reason only come around once a year. However, what you DO have to do is plan ahead. Seems simple right?! Plan ahead and stick to your plan 😉 For me, I just make sure I tell my family ahead of time. I ask what is on the menu before-hand, ask for additions if I need something (or bring it myself) that way I can still stick to the traditional turkey and sweet potato meal with the family. The only difference is I’m going there already knowing how much I need to weigh out or portion to stay on track with my numbers. It’s a win/win situation, they are “happy” because I’m still participating in the feast (lol) but I’m not sacrificing my plan at all. Of course because I’m in prep I have to say no to dessert no matter what, otherwise I would say again plan ahead. If you have more than one event pick which one has your favorite and enjoy that one. Try and keep it to one serving because remember, you will be back in the gym and you do have goals.
***And remember the gym is 24hours so plan your workouts in there…no need to skip!!!
