What can you do with a scoop of whey protein?

What can you do with a scoop of whey protein?

Who gets tired of drinking a serving of whey protein and feeling like you just drank some water?  Well…I do.  I like to feel like I’m EATING a meal!  So, here are some ideas I use when my meal plan calls for one scoop of whey protein.

Shake it baby- If I’m in a crunch, traveling, or absolutely have to I will put my one scoop of whey and 10oz water in a shaker cup.  I find this boring

Blend it baby- If I’m at home and want a refreshing treat…I’ll blend it.  Try 5oz water, one scoop of whey, 5 ice cubes (plus any flavorings or seasonings you may want), blend and enjoy.  I like a thick smoothie or use less water and make more of an ice cream to eat with a spoon.

Energize it- If I need a pick me up I will shake or blend my one scoop of whey with 8oz of cold coffee.  This is delicious and will get me energized in the afternoon.  For whey flavors try chocolate, vanilla, or any other favorite flavor.

Snack pack it- Everyone loves a snack pack! Grab a mug, add one scoop whey and just enough water to make a pudding.  Mix well and enjoy!

Freeze it– Take your whey to the freezer for another tasty treat.  Grab a mug, add one scoop whey and just enough water to make a pudding.  Keep the spoon in it (this will be your “popsicle stick”) and place in the freezer for a couple of hours (or less time to make it not as solid).  Put the outside of the mug under warm water to loosen your tasty treat.  Pop it out and enjoy like a Popsicle.

Just eat it- Don’t judge till you try it…but I eat whey protein dry and it is delicious.  Put one scoop whey in a bowl.  Put a small amount of whey on a spoon, drop in your mouth (like you eat a pixie stick), massage around with your tongue till you make a little taffy and then eat.  This takes practice to get it right.  To much on the spoon will make a mouth of powder that will not work…start small.  Also, different brands of whey have different textures.  Whey protein’s that are a little grainy taste best (some just taste bad and ruin the experience).

Cook it up– We have all tried the protein pancake.  Well, if you are craving one and do not have carbs with this meal you can try this out.  Take 1 egg white, ¾ scoop whey protein, a little water for a moist consistency and mix in a bowl.  Pour mixture on greased hot griddle and cook like a pancake.  Or, pour in greased waffle iron and cook.  Both options can be good if consistency is right.  I have even heard if you pre-make the waffle, you can toast in the toaster to make it even better (like putting a frozen waffle in the toaster).

I hope one or some of these tips can help you out.  Try them out and enjoy.  Remember, practice makes perfect.  Just because your first try may not be the best, modify the ingredients or methods to make it better.

Enjoy!
